GA185-290 upper fixture requires a lower vice or capstan grip to pull the vertical wire. The standard test requires a fixture that transmits the load in a way to mimic the load conditions that the wire experiences in concrete. To do such a test, the fixture must hold the vertical wire to that the load is applied along the centerline of the vertical wire. The horizontal wire is also to be held close to the location where the vertical wire is held in place. The fixture is hung from the test machine with a ball, socket, or other self-aligning joint (see GA327 universal joint). The horizontal wire is completely secure. The vertical wire is placed in an anvil so that it is loose and allows the load to be transmitted freely.
