This ASTM is used to test welded wire that is used in the reinforcement of concrete. This standard coves wire that is made from cold-worked drawn or rolled deformed wire, or a combination of deformed and non-deformed wires. Convoluted steel wire is often tested with ASTM A497. To meet the standard set by ASTM, the steel wire that is being tested must meet the tensile, bend, and weld shear strength requirements.
