ASTM A981 covers testing of bond strength for 0.600-in. [15.24 mm] diameter steel prestressing strand, grade 270 [1860] uncoated, used in prestressed ground anchors. The bond strength in this standard refers the bond between steel strands and cement grout. The bond strength that is obtained from ASTM A981 is to be applied to the design of ground anchors, and not the bond needed for design using pretensioned concrete.
