The ASTM D5418 standard characterizes the visco-elastic properties of thermoplastic and thermosetting resins and composite systems in the form of rectangular specimen. The specimens may be directly cut from sheets, molded shapes or plates. The data generated using the dual cantilever beam (DCB) method may be used to assess the elastic modulus with respect to different temperatures, frequencies and time. The test also specifies how to measure the loss moduli or Tan Delta to compare insulation properties of the plastics.
TestResources builds testing machines for material testing applications, including ASTM D5418. The testing machines that we build are modular, meaning that they can easily be configured to meet the specific requirements of unique testing applications. We have tagged suggested bend testing equipment for ASTM D5418 below.
