The ASTM D5961 standard describes several test procedures to obtain data on the bearing response of pinned or fastened joints using multi-directional polymer matrix composite laminates reinforced by high-modulus fibers.
Testing Procedure
The test methods are as follows. A is double-shear tensile loading, B is single-shear tensile or compressive loading of a two-piece specimen, C is single-shear tensile loading of a one-piece specimen, and D is double-shear compressive loading. The properties obtained from this testing standard are the ultimate bearing strength, the offset bearing strength and the stress-strain curve.
