ASTM E132 (E-132) test method is used to determine Poissons constant of a material at room temperature. This test is limited to rectangular section test specimens. In a homogenous and isotropic solid the relationship between axial and lateral strain is linear for elastic strain. This test is used to determine how a structure will deform under a load, either tensile of compression. Taking load deformation into account is a necessary part of structural design, and having an accurate measurement of Poissons ratio is critical to the design process. ASTM E132 outlines the test procedure for uniaxial loading only.
To accomplish this test, an accurate test machine is needed. TestResources specializes in Test Equipment, Machines & Fixtures that are used in material testing. We have the material testing machines that are used for ASTM E132 test standard. Call our applications engineers to talk with an expert in material testing. We will work with you to guarantee a test machine that fits your application.
