ISO 1421 tests tensile strength and elongation at break. This test is useful for different types of fabrics including fabrics coated in plastic, fabrics coated in rubber, woven fabrics, and other coated fabrics. ISO 1421 specifies the longitudinal tensile testing requirements through two different methods. Pneumatic grips with rubber coated clamps are optimal for tests performed under this standard.
A CRE tensile testing machine is required for ISO 1421. The machine shall be provided with meands of recording both the force applied to the test piece in stretching it to the breaking point and the corresponding elongation. It shall be provided with a strength indicator having several scales in order to ensure that the rupture of each test piece is obtained with a strength of 15 % to 85 % of the maximum of the scale used. The accuracy of the machine shall be class 1 as defined in ISO 7500-1. The error in the indicated or recorded maximum force shall not exceed +- 1 %. The machine shall be capable of a uniform rate of increase in separation. By means of our testing expertise and modular product design, we will help find the solution that is right for you.
