ISO 7765-1 test method for determining the energy required to cause failure of thin ( > 1 mm) plastic sheet and films. Implact resistance of plastic sheet or plastic film is determined by dropping a dart from a specific height. Variations in plastic films and sheets results is changes in impact strength from one plastic specimen to another. Therefore, ISO 7765-1 defines the impact energy resistance as being the energy that causes failure to 50% of test specimens. Two test methods are defined in ISO 7765-1.
Method A employs a dart with 38 mm diameter hemispherical head, dropped from a height of 0,66 m, and method B employs a dart with a 50 mm diameter hemispherical head dropped from a height of 1,50 m. The measurement technique is the stairecase method.
