ASTM C203, ISO 1209 and EN 12089-B lay out procedures and test machine requirements to perform flexural bend tests of thermal insulating products for building applications. Flexural bend tests determine the bending strength of materials and products and provide their deflection at a given load. The method could be used to determine the resistance of the product to bending stresses during transport and application as well as end use. Test specimens are supported on two adjustable parallel cylindrical support edges placed in the same horizontal plane. The upper anvils may be three or four point depending on the test standard chosen. The maximum bending force, stress and deflection is recorded. Note the standards are similar but not the same.
