Mechanical pull-proof tests of wire harnesses and cable assemblies are required to verify that the wire and wire terminal connections involved meet quality standards. These tests require a special load controlled test machine that is capable of gripping the test sample and loading it up to a load level required by end use or to meet an industry standard. Pull-proof or load limit tests are not destructive tests. These tests prove that the test wire assembly can withstand tension pull loads.
Applicable Testing Standards
- SAE/AS 7928 Terminal, Lug, Splice, and Crimp Copper Strength Specifications
- EIA-364-08B Crimp Tensile Strength Test
- ASTM B913 Testing Crimped Wire Connections
- ASTM F458 Pull Testing Equipment for Wire Bonds
