Universal test machines are used to perform a wide variety of mechanical tests by pushing in compression or pulling in tension. A universal test machine can be used for any tension and compression quasi-static mechanical test, including tensile testing, compression testing, flexural bend or peel testing, shear tests and tear tests. To switch tests, you simply swap out test fixtures to match the test specimen geometry. The range of force capacities is very wide: 1 to 600 kN (225 lb to 135,000 lb).  Universal test machines are our most popular type of test machine.
